CANARIE (Canadian Network for the Advancement of Research Industry and Education): Research Software Program Competitive Funding Call 2b: Research Software Re-Use at the Platform Level

The purpose of CANARIE is to 1) fund and promote reusable research software tools to accelerate scientific discovery, 2) support Research Data Canada, 3) provide identity management services that enable secure, ubiquitous connectivity and content access to the academic community.

CANARIE has announced a second Call for Proposals that invests in research software teams to adapt their existing research platforms to support researchers from other disciplines.

Value:
maximum per project $225,000, as follows:

 

a)  maximum $100,000 for software development over a maximum 12 months

Additional funding is available to support ongoing maintenance of the platform, the development of additional platform functionality, onboarding of additional research teams, and user support.

b)   maximum $125,000 of post development platform maintenance and support for the 15 months ending September 30, 2020.

All projects are required to contribute in-kind costs that are equivalent to at least 15% of the total eligible project costs.  (review Schedule of Eligible Costs, at https://www.canarie.ca/wp-content/uploads/RS-call-2b_Schedule-of-eligible-costs.pdf)

Application process:
The CANARIE application deadline is March 12, 2018.
