The Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Secretariat runs a suite of programs which mobilize Canada’s best research, development and entrepreneurial talent.

One of NCE’s primary programs is the solution-driven Networks Centres of Excellence program. Networks awarded through this program are large-scale, academic-led virtual research centres that bring together multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral partners from academia, industry, government and not-for-profit organizations to address a challenge or issue that will result in benefit to
Canada. Networks perform R&D, knowledge and technology exploitation and exchange activities, and enable Canadian researchers and students to work with receptor communities to accelerate the creation and application of knowledge. A list of current NCE Networks can be found at http://www.nce-rce.gc.ca/NetworksCentres-CentresReseaux/NCE-RCE_eng.asp

The NCE Secretariat anticipates issuing a Call for Proposals for these large-scale research networks in 2013. Given the complexity of the program, need for identified partners and governance and management structure, advance discussion and planning is required. Stephanie Michaud, Deputy Director for the NCE program will visit McMaster to describe the program requirements and answer questions to assist in planning for a future competition.

The NCE presentation will take place
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
