NEW WORKSHOP FOR NSE RESEARCHERS

HOW TO WRITE A SUCCESSFUL
NSERC ENGAGE GRANT APPLICATION

NSERC launched its new ‘Engage Grant’ funding initiative at the start of 2010.  Since that time, more than 2,500 Engage Grants have been awarded across the country.  On average, about 20 new Engage Grants are awarded every week to Canadian university researchers who want to begin a first-time collaboration with a new industry partner.  With a success ratio of better than 85%, Engage represents an excellent opportunity for academic researchers to lay the groundwork for new, long-term collaborations with Canadian industry.  Engage has been specially tuned to make it industry-friendly and has particular appeal for smaller companies.

The Engage application process is relatively straightforward.  Like all funding opportunities, however, there are certain conventions and structures which –  when observed – will enhance an application’s chances for success.  If you would like to learn more about how to write a successful application for NSERC Engage Grant funding, you are invited to attend a special workshop that will be held on campus on Wednesday, September 24th.  The session will be led by Mr. John Jackson (NSERC Ontario Regional Office), who will provide a 30-minute presentation to outline some of the key details for putting together a good Engage application package (including the elements of a good letter of support from the industry partner).  Mr. Jackson will remain available afterwards to answer your questions on Engage application and eligibility details.

This workshop will be of value to both first-time and past Engage Grant applicants.  First-time applicants should be sure to check the Engage PI eligibility requirements on the Engage website before planning to attend.
