Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC): The Tri-Agencies are coming to McMaster, September 27, 28, 2018

The Tri-Agencies are coming to McMaster to deliver a session September 27 (1:30pm – MDCL 2232), and a session September 28 (10:00am – MDCL 3023) regarding the changes to the Financial Administration of Tri-Agency Awards, as well as gather feedback and comments.

The Tri-Agencies want to make things ‘less administratively burdensome’ and to do so, they are seeking your input on the proposed changes, and wish to understand your existing ‘pain points and irritants’.

The objective of these changes are to:

1)  reduce burden and increase efficiencies (e.g., the Tri-Agencies are removing the need for justification of all purchases and the need for 100% compliance review);
2)  clarify accountability;
3)  modernize approaches to post-award administration (increase automation);
4)  enhance clarity of guidance from the Tri-Agencies.

The Tri-Agencies want to build and maintain a trusting partnership between:

.  the grant recipients;
.  the administering institutions; and
.  the Tri-Agencies.

To establish this trusting partnership, The Tri-Agencies are providing outreach and have identified 12 institutions to be part of a ‘PILOT project’ to solicit feedback, and help shape these changes.  McMaster is part of this PILOT and your feedback and participation is needed.

The Tri-Agencies are coming to McMaster for two separate 1.5 hour presentations to share the proposed changes, and provide you with an opportunity to share your input and feedback.  Participation in person is preferable, however those unable to attend in person can participate by video conference (instructions at the bottom of the message).
