Weston Brain Institute: Open Funding Opportunities

The Weston Brain Institute has recently announced the following open funding opportunities:

1)  Rapid Response: Canada 2019, the objective:  to provide seed funding for novel, high-risk, high-reward, translational research that will accelerate the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases of aging.

Focus:

Parkinson’s and Related Diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease; Progressive supranuclear palsy; Dementia with lewy bodies; Multiple system atrophy; prodromes; vascular contributions to the listed diseases)
Alzheimer’s and Related Diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s  disease; frontotemporal dementia; mild cognitive impairment; prodromes; vascular contributions to the listed diseases)

2)  Transformational Research: Canada 2019, the objective:   1) to provide funding for transformative, novel, high-risk, high-reward, translational research projects that will accelerate the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases of aging, 2) to expand the type of complementary approaches eligible for funding to other lifestyle interventions (e.g., speech therapy, cognitive therapy, music therapy, social interaction); and 3) to encourage applications that bring in other fields (e.g.,  AI, big data, machine learning, data science, computer science).

Focus:

Parkinson’s and Related Diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease; Progressive supranuclear palsy; Dementia with lewy bodies; Multiple system atrophy; prodromes; vascular contributions to the listed diseases)
Alzheimer’s and Related Diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s  disease; frontotemporal dementia; mild cognitive impairment; prodromes; vascular contributions to the listed diseases)
