ARB Scholarly Publications

The objective of ARB Scholarly Publications grants is to support and enhance manuscripts accepted for publication by a press that employs peer-review.

Application Process:

Each year there is one Scholarly Publications grant competition. The application deadline is October 31st.

A completed Scholarly Publications grant application form must be received by ROADS by 4:30pm on the deadline date.

Refer to the detailed eligibility guidelines.

The maximum allowable for the Standard Research and Creative & Performing Arts and Scholarly Publications grants combined is $7,000 per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).

Awards are granted for a period of 24 months beginning January 1st. Any grant funds not used by the end of that period will be returned to the ARB.

Evaluation Criteria:

Scholarly Publications grant applications will be reviewed for the following:

  • Availability of alternative outlets for publication at lower or zero cost;
  • Overall contribution of the publication to the candidate’s research and publication record; and
  • Applicant’s scholarly contributions relative to the stage of career (e.g., publications, reviews, abstracts, conference presentations over the last five years).

Final Report:

To be eligible for future ARB funding, within six months of the end of the grant period a completed ARB Scholarly Publications Final Report form must be submitted to ROADS.
