Support for Proposal Development

The ROADS Development Unit supports researchers through the identification of funding opportunities, provision of information sessions, and review and editing of grant submissions.

This support may include:

  • assistance with proposal development by reviewing applications and providing advice;
  • coordinating strategic and institutional applications and awards;
  • drafting institutional elements of grant proposals, as applicable;
  • acting as primary institutional contact for external granting agencies; and
  • ensuring that proposals and funding agreements comply with University policies, and conform to the criteria and guidelines of the program sponsor.

All proposals for research funding from applicants and co-applicants in the Faculties of Business, Engineering, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences must be approved by ROADS on behalf of McMaster University prior to submission.

To obtain institutional approval a copy of the proposal and a completed application approval form must be submitted to ROADS.

Assistance with development of your grant proposal can be obtained by contacting the primary Development Unit contact for your Department. Please note, depending on the funding program, a different Senior Advisor may be assigned to assist you with development of your proposal.

Guidance on how to develop a successful proposal can also be obtained by consulting The Art of Grantsmanship and What are Elements of a Successful Proposal.
